Its been a while...

Its been a while since I updated the blog, so here goes...
Production has gone somewhat into decline with the birth of my second child, but I have been doing a repairs and a few lovely quilting jobs for people. I still have plenty of stock of the hats, bibs, toys and jewellery though, so do get in touch if you would like anything. I am hoping to gear up for Christmas again this year!

A new arrival

My daughter Connie May arrived on Wednesday 27th October, 7 lb 8 oz, and absolutely gorgeous.

Quilts again...

Here is another quilt I have made recently for a good friends little girl.

More rag dolls...

I've recently made a beautiful baby quilt for someone, so here are some pictures...

New things for July

Its July already! I've had a busy summer of selling, and little commissions for people and now I am trying to get back to the site and list the new bits and bobs (and some of the things that never got listed before...). Here's a little taste of what will be going up over the next couple of days.

Knitting rolls
These knitting rolls will keep your needles organised, and are perfect to carry around with you in your knitting bag. They are £8.95 and make a perfect gift for a keen knitter.

Vintage liberty cotton baby cubes with squeaks or bells

Hats
The hats, the hats... I've been promising to list them all summer, and I'm finally going to do it. They have been so popular, I think they are my best seller. This is the last of the summer hats before I start thinking about cosy winter hats, so get them while you still can.

Make-up bags

The perfect accompaniment to a fabric covered mirror!

These make-up bags are made from cotton prints and are £4.50.

Each one is made from a different combination of co-ordinating fabrics.

Bath Fringe Festival and the Lindy Bop Hop

On Sunday the 30th of May, 12 to 6pm, I will be running a stall at the vintage style fair alongside a Lindy bop hop 'dance-off' competition. Its all happening at Greenpark station. It sounds like a lot of fun, so if you can make it please do come, there'll be lots to see and do as part of the Bath Fringe Festival.

Redland Mayfair

Redland Mayfair has been and gone. The first outing for the baby accessories and toys that I've been making, and it was a big success! Weather was windy, and a bit chilly for my liking (I do prefer 25 degrees plus...), but there was a big turnout, and I bumped into lots of people that I knew, and sold lots of bits and pieces. The bibs, baby squares and little mirrors were the most popular items, so I'll be making more of those I think!

Merino wool flower rings

I've been needle felting away, stabbing myself in the knee to make these gorgeous little flower rings. To be listed when I've made a decent sized selection.

My venue for Easton Arts Trail

I've finally got confirmation of my venue for the upcoming Easton arts trail (12th and 13th June), I'm going to be with several other exhibitors at the Greenbank pub on Greenbank Rd. This is probably the nicest pub in Easton, very family friendly, and will have music and other child-friendly activities on the day.
Hope to see you there.

My predictions for summer '10

The met office have apparently given up on making long term forecasts after what failed to be a BBQ summer and a mild winter... But that won't stop me! Its going to be hot and sunny and your kids are going to need a sunhat.

Fortunately for you I am making some beautiful cotton sunhats. They will be available to buy at the events I'll be attending over the next few months, and will be listed on the site soon. They'll be priced at £12.50, and available in the following sizes, Newborn, 0-6M, 6-12M, 12-24M, 2-3Yrs, and Child.

Dates for your diary...

Not everything that I make and sell can be listed here, so if you would like to come and see me, and the things I've been making, then I will be having stalls at the following events:

Redland May Fair. 3rd May, 1pm, on Redland Green.
This very popular event is a great day out and there are always lots of really interesting and exciting stalls, plants and seedlings, and fun things for kids to do.

Trinity Spring Art Market, Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th of May, 11-6pm at the Trinity Centre, Trinity rd.
This will be my first time doing an event at the Trinity, so please do come along and help to make it a success.

Easton Arts Trail
, Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th of June, all around Easton.
A brilliant arts trail, very friendly and fun. There are plans for open gardens, as well as open homes, and a free Somali feast.

Fabric covered mirrors

These little mirrors, covered with pretty printed cottons, and padded on the reverse, are perfect to put into your hand bag or make up bag. I am making them to sell at a few fairs I have coming up.

Newsletter

I am going to start doing a monthly 'newsletter' style email just to remind my fans to have a little look at this site occasionally, so if you would like to receive it (it will be short, and it will only be monthly, I promise!) email me, with newsletter in the subject box, at;

Bambinos Magazine

Bambinos is a new magazine based in Bristol aimed at parents of babies and young children. The first issue will be out in June and will be packed with fantastic editorial and looks to be a great read. I am contributing to the art and craft pages with a few make at home projects.

If you are interested in the magazine their site is www.bambinosmagazine.com

Bambinos will be available for free around Bristol, and I will have copies available at the Easton Arts Trail. You can also subscribe for the year, and have the magazine sent to you for just £5.

3 Generation Quilt

My mother, grandmother and I have been working on a quilt together which is now nearly completed. We each pieced a third of it in a simple design of 3 sizes of squares in mostly Kaffe Fassett fabrics. The hand quilting is running across the quilt diagonally and we are each doing every third stripe. My mum and grandma have done their stripes and it is now my turn to complete it before we exhibit it in June.

I've also had a lot of help this week sorting out my buttons, as you can see from the photo...

Raggy dolls

These rag dolls are what I've been working on recently. Their bodies are made from fairly traded organic cotton and the dresses are made from vintage liberty prints. They'll be listed on the toy shop page once I've made a little collection of them.

Oil cloth bibs

The oil cloth bibs have been working a treat, and coming out of the wash just lovely, so they are now available to buy on the babywear shop page.

The bibs are made from a wipe clean fabric on the top, so they are great for babies starting weaning, or those learning to  drink from a cup, or those who just seem to get in a bit of a mess! The backing and binding is made from an easy care poly-cotton, so less likely to stain, so your bibs should look shiny and new for longer! They have two poppa closures so the size is adjustable, and they won't loose their oomph in the wash like velcro.

I made bibs like this to take on holiday, and they were fantastic as they could last quite a few meals, with a wipe in between, before they needed a wash.

Crocheted flowers

These crocheted flower necklaces, brooches, and hair slides have just been added to the jewellery shop page. Each one is crocheted by hand from perle cotton with a tiny flower button at the centre.

I first started making them when I wanted some soft jewellery that wouldn't hurt my baby's head when he cuddled up with me.

Iolo in his toddler apron making bread dough

I got some great photos today of Iolo making bread dough in his toddler apron. As soon as I got the camera out he was all cheeky smiles, and saying "cheese!". Check this cutie out.

Finally, something to look at on my website!

I've been fiddling around all day, and my site now has a shop and lots of pictures. Who knows, someone might even buy something!

When I haven't been working on the site, I've been making wipe clean oilcloth bibs. This one (below) is in red and white spotty oilcloth, with a red and white gingham backing. My son Iolo is going to give it a test run (he is highly experienced at testing bibs to extreme limits...). There's going to be lots of wiping, and lots of washing, and if the bib cuts it then there'll be more in the shop soon. Watch this space. X
